Athlete Biography: I learned to swim at age 4 at the QE2 swimming pool. I became competitive very early, as I began swimming competitions at age 6. At 11, I joined the South Brighton surf lifesaving club. I first represented New Zealand in 2001 in Surf Life Saving. My first triathlon was in February 2005 in New Zealand where I qualified to represent NZ in the Triathlon World Championships for U23 Elite. I was crowned U23 World Champion in September 2005. In March 2006 I was the bronze medalist at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. And the following week I had my first World Cup podium in Mooloolaba. I finished my first season ranked 9th in the World and was awarded the International Triathlon Rookie of the Year. In 2007, I won my first World Cup in Kitzbuhel, Austria. In 2008, I placed 8th in the Olympic Games Triathlon in Beijing, China.
