Snowsill earns Order of Australia

Triathlon’s Olympic gold medallist Emma Snowsill received the Order of Australia medal this week on Australia Day. The prestigious honour was awarded to Snowsill and ten other Olympians and Paralympians in recognition of the exemplary manner in which they represented Australia and brought credit to themselves, the Australian team and the nation.

“Obviously we race to go to Olympic Games and race to go to the Commonwealth Games and world champs and set our goals on that, so when you receive awards that are based on those continuing results it’s a nice surprise,” she said.

“To be honest, to get one as high as that I feel a bit out of place receiving it.”

Snowsill is a 3-time ITU Triathlon World Champion and has won nine world cup titles in her career.

La medallista de oro Olímpica de triatlón Emma Snowsill, ha recibido esta semana la medalla de la orden de Australia en el día de Australia. El prestigioso honor ha sido concedido a Snowsill y a otros diez atletas Olímpicos y Paralímpicos en reconocimiento de la manera ejemplar en la que han representado a Australia y sen han acreditado a ellos mismos, al equipo Australiano y a la nación.

“Nosotros competimos para ir a los Juegos Olímpicos y para ir a los Juegos de la Commonwealth y los campeonatos del mundo y conseguir en ellos nuestros objetivos, por lo que cuando recibes premios que se basan en la continuidad de los resultados es una grata sorpresa,” dijo ella.

“Para ser honesta, conseguir una cosa tan grande como esta, hace que me sienta un poco fuera de lugar.”

Snowsill es tres veces Campeona del Mundo de Triatlón y ha ganado nueve títulos de la copa del mundo en su carrera.
